Words to Live By
It's not how much you accomplish in life
that really counts,
but how much you give to other.
It's not how high you build your dreams
that makes a difference,
but how high your faith can climb.
It's not how many goals you reach,
but how many lives you touch.
It's not who you know that matters,
but who you are inside.
~ Rebecca Barlow Jordan ~

How much of a dreamer are you? How much do you believe in your dreams?  Can dreams ever come true? To what extent must one reach out to fulfill his /her dreams? Will you sacrifice your dreams to fulfill the dreams of the one you dream about? Well intense and thought provoking questions, aren’t they?

Dream’s Sake” by Jyoti Arora takes you through all these questions and helps you answer, if not many, at least few of these questions. Nothing can do more justice to book than the above quoted poetic verses of Rebecca B.J . A well-defined story line (which is not new to Indian scenario) with few very strong characters and few characters that seem to be drafted from our never ending telly series make this book an enjoyable read.  Priyam and Abhi are set to be doomed when their parents die in an accident which also cripples an young Abhi. But they are taken into custody by Sid’s father. If Priyam and Abhi are subdued to Sid’s father, they are guilty of offending Sid, for there is a past that haunts him and keeps him from talking to his dad. And then there is Ashi - the bold and the beautiful, who has revolted against her kith and kin and taken up an independent residence with her mother. Raj is the rich and handsome neighborhood boy with all characteristics of a gentleman and this story revolves around these five characters, not to mention the important roles played by Sid’s father and Raj’s Mother.

Abhi dreams of a happy life for his sister with Sid and for himself with Ashi. Priyam dreams to marry Sid, a dream shared by Sid as well. Ashi wants to be rich and successful princess who will marry her prince charming – handsome, rich and royal. In short Raj. Raj has been fancying Priyam since childhood and wants to marry her. Sid’s father dreams of sharing the loving bond with his son again, Whereas Raj’s mother wants to marry both her kids to some deep pocketed people. Amidst this maze of dreams is set the simple yet beautiful story of “Dream’s sake”.

The beauty of the book lies in the way it is written. The story may seem clichéd but Jyoti’s  prowess as a writer takes higher hand - the poetic verses at the beginning of every chapter and her ability to get the reader into the skin of the characters and connect with them keeps the pages flipping.
“Dream’s Sake” is the dream of the author and we must say she has dreamt well. Read the book to find out whose dreams are fulfilled and whose dreams aren’t. For all you know, you may find yourself to be one of the protagonists of the book.
